Shine Outreach, The Link Centre' in Salvasione School, Jo Burg.

We are very pleased with the progress of the centre in Jo Burg, which will be called The Link Centre. This is a letter from Leigh anne, who travelled in a personal capacity to help the team set up the initial planning stage:
Hi Maurita,

I can't even wait until I get home to share with you that 'The Link Centre' at Salvazione School in Brixton, Johannesburg has been launched!!

They have a 'Centre Manager' instead of being called the Link (to save confusion)!

There was a lovely group of about 40 existing and new volunteers, as well as their new Head Master who starts in 2011 and the Chairman of the Board of the school.

They are at the stage Shine was about 5 years ago and welcomed the advice on how to be more effective volunteers and loved the idea of having a more efficiently run centre and firmer guidelines and training in the future.

You would have loved the energy and enthusiasm showed by everyone! The school building is in a converted Church Hall and The Link Centre is in an ideal space that won't disrupt the rest of the school while in action.

Most of the children come from the nearby township and English is not their mother tongue so the support they are going to get is really needed.

Margi was spot on to assist the existing volunteers with moving on to another level, and the insight and information she learnt from the Shine Outreach Workshop was so helpful.

....

and ( to think that) you started all this with The Shine Centre!!!

Love,

Leigh Anne Nathan
