As part of the Christmas Spirit of Giving campaign, Kalahari and myvillage/myschoolcard worked together to enable the public to donate books to The Shine Centre. The most incredible selection of books was delivered in late February to us. Many thanks to Michelle van Der Toorn, Helene Brand and Jacqui Paton for initiating this magnificent collaboration. Nearly 400 books to the sum of R20,000 were collected, and in addition, myvillage/myschoolcard donated a further R20,000 for Xhosa and English readers for the centres. We plan to place selective books in the centres, and then use the balance for our next parent workshop on the 16th of April in Khayaleitsha.We are so lucky to be recognised by such strong and well supported organisations. It is encouraging to know the power of working collaboratively, and it is truly warming for us all to recognise that we are more powerful collectively than the 'sum of the parts.' This is the true spirit of Tirisano' or 'Ubuntu.' A HUGE thank you.
