Not only all the wonderful volunteers and Trudy, who made my stay unforgettable, but especially all the lovely kids I've met. I thought that I would spend my time teaching the children, but in fact the children have taught me a very important thing, and it is that there is so much more to life than we think.
Being grateful for every day you have, no matter where you are on earth. The smile that appears on their face's when they have read a difficult sentence, or won a word game. This is priceless. I can assure you that everyone who comes to Shine to volunteer will be shining from the very beginning, with pride and happiness. I have worked with several children, but the one that I will remember forever is Buntu, a lovely shy child. Even in the few weeks I have been here in Cape Town I saw him grow and get more secure about himself and his abilities. And isn't that the most important thing? I feel very blessed that I had a part in that.
