PGWC and Shine
One of the Provincial Government of the Western Cape's circuit managers, Vanessa Minaar, invited us to talk to 50 of their Principals on the 20th of October at Jan Van Reibeek school. We were lucky enough to have 5 out of 6 of our schools represented at the talk. The stance we took was that our methods were working, and that they were simple yet effective, and easy to implement in the classroom. We talked about the principles of paired and shared reading, have a go writing, story-time, wipe sheets, introducing in-class libraries where no libraries exist, and the importance of allowing books to go home. In addition,we talked about the effectiveness of volunteers coming in to the school to help.
