Fiona Gawronsky, artist

The 8th of May, 2010, a beautiful saturday morning.
Starke Ayres, the Garden Centre in Mowbray, was host to one of our very talented volunteers, Fiona Gawronsky, who displayed her beautiful artwork.
Here is Fiona's account of the weekend:
'We had a good show – Saturday, with our launch, was fabulous – then Sunday the weather completely turned. I had a sleepless Saturday night thinking the whole exhibit had blown away in the storm. The magic was that everything was pristine when I arrived early on Sunday morning. The angels and Buddha garden statuary had protected our space!'Kindly, the manageress, Marian, offered the R240 commission for Shine in addition to over R1000 we raised over the weekend. So, we have some money for Shine and have spread the word. Everyone loved the picture and it was eventually won by my mother-in-law’s cousin!
In response, Kerry White, who attended the show along with Sally James, had this to say:
'We had such fun on Saturday morning at your exhibition-thank you for the beautiful flowers, your generosity in donating the painting and for your commitment to the work we do at Shine-it is much appreciated.Your art is beautiful, a real celebration of nature and colour-we do hope that the exhibition went well for you both!'

We are constantly amazed and thrilled by other people's passion for Shine...a HUGE thank you to everyone involved, and for everyone who attended and bought a ticket. A grand gesture.
