Outreach Workshop Part One

Gathering at the wonderful CDRA building on Francis St in Woodstock last Thursday the 10th of May were a group of 13 remarkable people, from Jo Burg, The Boland and the Grabouw area, all wanting to make a difference to the education system. Carrie Maschek and I took this lovely group through a day of sharing, best practice and practical, hands-on skills. As a training team, we always learn so much: I think the best moment of my day was when one of the trainees commented that we had given her wings to fly. Very special.
We hope to hear from this group going forward: our aim is that we support them with the understanding that once they have a small literacy centre up and running, they can come back to us for part two of the training, which comprises of more operational information, the test pack, the have-a-go writing method and the games training. Good luck to all, and we look forward to watching your progress. This group has now taken us over a total of 100 people that we have trained to open their own literacy centre in the last 21 months.
