Lou Burger, Volunteer and Donor Extraordinaire!

Lou on the left of the picture, in turquoise, with all the books she donated on the tables below
We were able to visit 3R for story time whilst we were visiting the school
Lou Burger, one of our Observatory volunteers, recently had a special birthday, and she asked all her friends to contribute towards the Shine Centre. Wow! What an incredible response: Lou is obviously VERY popular. One of her friends donated towards our sponsor a child programme, whilst other friends bought her early readers and story books: we ended up with the most incredible array of books, which we handed over to St Agnes school earlier this week. The library is being run by a wonderful team of people, who really care about literacy: I want to re-name the library 'The Little Library That Could.' They have such a 'can do' attitude, that it makes the heart sing, and we just KNOW that Lou's books will be well loved and well used. Thank you to everyone for making our visit such an enjoyable one.

The Birthday Girl. Happy Birthday Lou!
