Some background to the challenge: Jez Heys, and a very good friend of his, Mat Webb, have entered the Siberian Black Ice Race which takes place on Lake Baikal in Siberia. The Race started on the 17 of March but they flew out from Heathrow on the 15th of March. They have 14 days to complete the 380 miles. If they have not finished after 14 days they get pulled off the ice as this is the maximum time allowed. If the weather is favourable they expect to be able to complete the ride in 7 – 10 days. And I thought the Argus was a big enough challenge! Jez is hoping to raise £5000 for us. What a star.

‘Wow what a day: wind everywhere all day long. It was a nightmare time to cycle today. We were only going at walking pace, probably using three times the energy trying to cycle. Disappointing distance because of it, but we’re hoping for a good tomorrow because if we can get our heads down we’ll catch up.’

‘Just to let you know we are at the First Check Point First British team to get there.’
