Tea parties at St Agnes

Carrie received this lovely email from Shirley, one of our Shine Centre volunteers:

Two weeks ago, Mr Louw, the Principal at St Agnes Primary School, invited the Shine volunteers to the staff room to meet the teachers.  This was an excellent idea and I am sure both staff and volunteers benefitted from it.

I thought it might be nice to show our appreciation to the staff for the role they play in the children’s education.  So I suggested to three other Shine volunteers that we bake for the staff this Tuesday.  The four of us are parents of children at the American International School, (Pat Loquan, Annelie de Wet and Sophie Knight) where parents bake or supply snacks once a month for a 'Teacher Appreciation Day', so it's a similar idea.

I thought it might be nice for you to know about this.

This is an absolutely wonderful initiative for our long-term school partnerships. We are working hard to deepen our relationship with the school Heads staff.  It is so nice to hear that the schools have a similar goal.  What a great idea, very inspiring.  Thank you to our lovely St Agnes volunteers.
