The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation Award for 2009 went to Albie Sachs.

Bishop Tutu and Albi Sachs last week at the Justice and Reconciliation awards: Albie Sachs was very humbling: he talked at length about the importance of the previous winners, talking of  ordinary people doing extra-ordinary things. Top photo: Fanie, Du Toit from the Institute, Archbishop Tutu, and Maurita Glynne Weissenberg (seated).
Maurita and I were invited last week to the Institute of Justice and Reconciliation to their 10 year Anniversary. We were thrilled to be sitting at the next table to Charles Villa- Vicencio (of the Truth and Reconciliation foundation) and his wife Eileen who
is one of our very established volunteers. At the same table was the legendary Albie Sachs, and 'The Arch.' it was a thrill to be in the company of such inspiring people, and  Maurita was lucky enough to be introduced to the great men: I just basked in her glory! A very special evening. I will try and get a better photo, but in the meantime, this is one of Albie Sachs, with Bishop Tutu handing over the award we won for 2008.
